The Amazon recruitment process generally consists of five main stages. These stages can vary slightly depending on the role and location but follow a structured path from application to offer. Here's an overview:

1. Application and Resume Review

  • Description: This is the initial stage where you submit your resume and application through Amazon’s job portal. Amazon's recruiters review your resume to ensure your qualifications align with the role.
  • Outcome: If your application passes this screening, you'll be contacted for the next step.

2. Phone Screen

  • Description: This stage involves one or two phone interviews, depending on the role. For technical roles, you’ll be asked to solve coding problems or discuss system design. For non-technical roles, expect questions about your background and Amazon’s Leadership Principles.
  • Duration: Typically 30 to 60 minutes.
  • Outcome: If successful, you’ll be invited to the next stage.

3. Onsite or Virtual Interview Loop

  • Description: This is the core of the Amazon interview process and usually consists of 4 to 5 interviews conducted in one session. The interviews may be either virtual or in-person and focus on technical skills, problem-solving, and behavioral questions related to Amazon's Leadership Principles.
    • Technical Interviews: In technical roles, you’ll face coding, algorithm, or system design questions.
    • Behavioral Interviews: All roles include behavioral interviews to assess cultural fit, particularly regarding how you embody Amazon's Leadership Principles.
    • Bar Raiser Interview: A unique aspect of Amazon’s process, one of the interviews will be with a Bar Raiser, whose role is to ensure that only candidates who raise Amazon’s hiring standards are selected.

4. Final Decision

  • Description: After all interviews are completed, the hiring team meets to discuss your performance in each round. The Bar Raiser has significant influence during this stage.
  • Outcome: If the team reaches a consensus, the recruiter will contact you with either an offer or a rejection.

5. Offer and Background Check

  • Description: If you’re selected, you’ll receive a formal offer, including salary, stock options, and other benefits. After accepting the offer, Amazon will conduct a background check, verifying your work history, education, and potentially criminal records.
  • Outcome: Once the background check is complete, you’ll move on to the onboarding phase.

Summary of Amazon Recruitment Stages:

  1. Application and Resume Review: Submit your application and await initial screening.
  2. Phone Screen: 1-2 phone interviews assessing technical skills and cultural fit.
  3. Onsite or Virtual Interview Loop: 4-5 in-depth interviews, including a Bar Raiser session.
  4. Final Decision: Hiring team reviews your performance.
  5. Offer and Background Check: If successful, you'll receive an offer and undergo a background check.

This process ensures that Amazon thoroughly evaluates both technical and cultural fit.
