Do interviewers send rejection emails?
Typically, it’s not the interviewers themselves who send rejection emails. This task is usually handled by the company’s HR or recruiting team. After an interview, the interviewers provide feedback to HR, who then decide whether to move forward with the candidate or not. If it’s a rejection, HR or the recruitment team will usually send the official rejection email.
How the Process Works
-
Interview Feedback: After the interview, the interviewers submit their feedback to the recruiting team.
-
Decision: The recruiting team reviews the feedback and makes a decision about whether to advance the candidate to the next round or send a rejection.
-
Communication: HR or the recruiter typically handles communicating this decision to the candidate, whether it's a rejection or an offer.
What You Can Expect
-
Rejection Email: Most companies, including top tech firms like Anthropic, send a formal rejection email. This email is usually brief and professional.
-
Timing: The rejection email can arrive anywhere from a few days to a few weeks after the interview, depending on the company’s process and the number of candidates.
Following Up
If you haven’t heard back after a reasonable period of time, it’s okay to follow up with HR. Politely ask if there’s an update on your interview status.
